Lens Separation: Ultra Scope 85mm
Lens Separation: Ultra Scope 85mm

Today’s Service Journal features a rare Ultra Scope 85mm cinema lens, a unique piece of vintage glass that doesn’t come through the shop very often. It didn’t take long on the bench to see why it needed attention. The internal optical elements were beginning to separate, an issue that can quickly lead to image degradation or even loose glass if left unaddressed.

After a full inspection, we performed a complete optical service to stabilize the elements and restore proper performance. In addition to the internal repair, this lens received two major upgrades to improve its usability in modern production environments. We installed custom-fitted focus and iris gears for smooth, reliable operation with standard cinema accessories, and converted the original B mount to a PL mount for seamless compatibility with modern cinema cameras.

Following a full overhaul and final calibration, the Ultra Scope 85mm left the bench clean, stable, and performing as it should. If you’re dealing with vintage or rare cinema lenses in need of optical repair, cine lens servicing, mount conversions, or gear installations, contact us to discuss professional service and get your lenses ready for production.
