Despite its T2.5 transmission rating, the lens is based on a fast f/1.4 optical design, allowing it to maintain shallow depth of field and a softly rendered background. The Classic coating formula lowers contrast, encourages highlight bloom, and creates expressive flares, producing a warm, textural look that feels emotionally resonant.

The 105mm is an excellent choice for dramatic close-ups, insert shots, and stylized narrative work where controlled compression and mood are key. Mechanically, the lens matches the Sigma Cine lineup with a 95 mm front diameter, standardized gear positioning, and a 180° focus rotation for precise, repeatable focusing.
