This updated take on a true classic preserves the unmistakable character that made the Trioplan 100 legendary, while refining its performance for modern imaging. Best known for its bold, sharply defined “soap bubble” bokeh, the 100mm focal length offers strong subject isolation and a flattering perspective for portrait and nature photography. Wide open, highlights form distinctive circular outlines—especially in backlit scenes—while stopping down produces beautifully painted blur with smooth tonal transitions that give images depth and atmosphere.
Based on the original triplet optical design and paired with a 15-blade aperture, the revised construction improves contrast, sharpness, and overall handling without losing the Trioplan’s artistic soul. A reduced minimum focusing distance expands creative possibilities, particularly for close-up and macro-style work when used with extension rings. Rather than aiming for clinical perfection, this lens is designed to add personality and recognition to every frame—delivering images with character, texture, and a timeless visual signature.
