The Kowa Cine Prominar are a unique family of 2x anamorphic prime lenses. Their size/weight/and image character are nearly unrivaled. However, the Kowa lenses are as high maintenance as they are desirable. It's not uncommon for the cylinder doublets or triplets to begin separating as a result of old, deteriorated cement. Not unlike other cinema lenses, regular, repetitive use can wear down components and take a toll on image quality and mechanical reliability.
